EAST INDIA RESTAURANT OPENS IN CHEADLE HEATH

What a fantastic new addition to Cheadle Heath local centre!

East India is a welcoming, contemporary styled Indian restaurant serving the most incredible food.

Featuring an up to date styled lounge area with fully licensed bar it is well worth a visit.

The manager and his staff certainly know their customer service, going out of their way to make you at home.

The menu is amazing, with real authentic dishes, lots I’ve not heard or seen before in other restaurants I have been to. The chef certainly knows his stuff as each dish is cooked and presented to perfection.

For a really first-class meal at a reasonable price in friendly surroundings, you really must give East India a try.

Take-away is also available, but I would certainly recommend using the restaurant – you will not be disappointed.

COMING SOON.......

Here are a few of the subjects I am going to talk about next in my entries.

Kent Road petrol station site (ex-Total).

Edgeley Road petrol station site (ex-Shell), currently trading as a hand car wash.

New street lights in Cheadle Heath.

Illumination of the directional signs in Cheadle Heath.

Street cleansing in Cheadle Heath.

Brinksway retaining walls.

CONVENIENCE STORE FOR CHEADLE HEATH

At long last we finally might be getting somewhere with the ex-Texaco petrol station site on Stockport Road.

Since it was demolished some years ago, plans have been submitted for various ventures including a residential apartment block.

Here is a shot of how it used to look. It looks okay doesn't it? Clean and tidy and certainly not out of place.

Here is the site today.

For years now residents of Cheadle Heath and passers by traveling through to and from the "M60 Gateway" have had to endure this eyesore. We've had travelers settle here for a period (albeit only for a couple of days) and we've also had the pleasure of the beautiful Christmas tree sales pitch for the past two years !!! More recently, tipping has become a problem on the site.

However, after a long fight (some residents didn't want the land developed), planning permission has now finally been granted for a Convenience Store.

Further details and plans can be found here.
Personally I welcome anything that helps to make the community of Cheadle Heath thrive, and I really do think a store on this site will be a great asset to the community.

UPDATE : After writing this entry last night I noticed on passing the site this morning that it was a hive of activity with construction workers carrying the plans and marking it out, so hopefully work is about to begin.

HEATHSIDE ROAD - FLY TIPPING

I really wish SMBC would start to look closely at this area at the end of Heathside Road. It is a real eyesore.

The shops which back on to it just treat it as a dumping ground, as do other Cheadle Heath residents who feel they can just tip their rubbish here.

These bags were dumped here last week (probably by the new tenant of one of the shops on Edgeley Road).

I took this photograph on Tuesday, 16th March and reported it as a case of fly-tipping to SMBC. The next day the bags had all been stickered with enforcement notices from SMBC (for once SMBC had responded immediately) - it obviously takes a photograph to get a response as I have never seen them move so fast!

UPDATE : Thursday, 18th March and the rubbish has now been removed.

On passing earlier there was a skip there and all the bags had gone. The only thing remaining is the Tesco Microwave box and a load of builders rubble.

I would like to know whether SMBC did actually speak to the offending tenant of the shop or has the shop owner just cleared up in the nick of time and got away with it?

CHEADLE HEATH LOCAL CENTRE

Here are the revised plans for the proposed new footpaths and road junction improvements which look like they have been passed. I think it's going to look really good. It might be a good idea also to see if the council can get the shopkeepers to clean up their act too.
